The company was founded in 1976 with technology and know-how assistance from Bristol Yachts, Rhode Island, USA and subsequently Hunt Railton International Inc., USA. In its early years, a majority of the boats manufactured were trawler type luxury boats exported to the USA. A small number were also exported to Australia, Singapore, Philippines, and the United Kingdom. In 1979, the company began focusing its attention on the Indian market. Since then, the company has manufactured pleasure boats, work boats, patrol boats, and survey boats of sizes ranging from 9.5 feet to 68 feet.

Bristol Boats Private Limited operates in a manufacturing facility capable of manufacturing yachts up to 80 feet. The yard has a fully air-conditioned molding shop. The shop floor is designed for line production. The carpentry shop and machine shop is fully equipped with machinery to support a high level of craftsmanship. The work force is from India and is trained in custom boat building. To accommodate its customers’ preferences, Bristol Boats can work under the regulations of a classification society chosen by the customer. Bristol Boats also offers customized options on various features of the boat including engines, propulsion, other machinery, and interiors.
